Liverpool want Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov amid interest from Manchester City as Dominik Szoboszlai continues to struggle with consistency. Szoboszlai delivered a fantastic performance against Bologna in the second Champions League game which ended in a 2-0 home victory.
However, the Hungary captain has faced some criticism over his inconsistency in form while other midfielders are thriving at Liverpool. Szoboszlai has maintained his starting role during the early stages of the current season under Arne Slot despite his struggles.
Liverpool signed Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig during the summer of 2023 as part of a midfield revamp at the club. The 23-year-old made an immediate impact with incredible technical qualities and a surprisingly high work rate to become a fan-favourite.
However, Szoboszlai’s form gradually dropped and he suffered from recurring injury lay-offs during the latter stages of the last season. Despite the Hungarian’s struggle with consistency, he continued to work hard for the team and played a crucial role.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool wants Shakhtar midfielder Sudakov if Szoboszlai continues to struggle with inconsistency amid interest from rivals Man City. According to the football website Transfermarkt, clubs value the Ukraine international at €35 million, which is a reasonable price considering the current inflation.
The 22-year-old has continued to play a key role for the Ukrainian club this season as the main attacking midfielder. The Ukraine international has made nine appearances in all competitions so far, contributing three goals and an assist this season.
Sudakov’s technical abilities and close dribbling skills allow him to sneak through congested spaces and create chances for his team. The 22-year-old makes a lot of progressive carries, taking on opponents in ground duels to exploit threatening spaces in attack.

While Sudakov fits the profile, Liverpool have a lot of options in their attack along with players capable of playing in multiple positions. Harvey Elliott, currently recovering from a long-term injury, but he will significantly impact the Reds when he returns and competes with Szoboszlai. Sudakov is the one to watch for the future but it is unlikely that Liverpool will make any move as he is not a necessity.
