Liverpool have been subject to links with Atlanta midfielder Ederson, and the Reds have already been extensively scouting the Brazilian in a bid to pursue his signatures when the transfer window reopens. The Merseyside Reds are in dire need to sign a new defensive midfielder, with Arne Solt having Wataru Endo as the only recognised DM on his roster at Kirkby.
Liverpool brought in the Japanese international as a stop-gap signing to fill in for the departed Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, and they have been linked with multiple players since; however, no move has materialised, and the club remains under rising pressure to find a long-term solution in the midfield.
The Dutch head coach has been using Ryan Gravenberch in the role as of now, but Liverpool are expected to target a new defensive midfielder in the upcoming windows, with Ederson being one of the rumoured players on Julian Ward’s list of targets.
However, it just got harder for the Reds to acquire Atalanta’s midfielder as Real Madrid are ready to rival the Premier League heavyweights in a bid to secure Ederson’s signature.
Liverpool’s Ederson pursuit faces stiff competition from Real Madrid
Los Blancos have shown keen interest in the 25-year-old, and they look at Ederson as a long-term successor to recently retired Toni Kroos, per Defensa Central. However, the competition is already steep going into the 2025 windows, as the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City have already expressed interest in the midfielder alongside Liverpool.
Atalanta are expected to demand along the lines of €50 million for the midfielder, a sum that all of the aforementioned clubs would willingly flex to secure Ederson’s services.
