Liverpool have been subject to links with Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi, with many reports suggesting the 22-year-old to be Mohamed Salah‘s heir at Anfield Stadium.
The Reds do need attacking talent in the roster at Kirkby as Mo Salah’s contract at the club enters the space of uncertainty with only less than 12 months left on his current deal with the club, and there are fair expectations that the Egyptian international can depart on a free transfer, and it is fair for the Reds to plan for a future without their star winger.
And in the 22-year-old Adeyemi, Liverpool will get a striker who loves to dribble into space using not only his pace and power but also his dribbling skills, which generally ends up getting the supporters on the edge of their seats. Adeyemi has a thunderous pace that can trouble any fullback, and complement that with his intelligence, which makes him an exciting addition if Liverpool do acquire him. You can already sense him becoming a nightmare for the defences in the English top tier.
Liverpool linked to Adeyemi as Salah replacement
Adeyemi has already demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess in the Bundesliga, and the question is whether he can replicate that in the Premier League. He was linked with a move away from Signal Iduna Park with Italian side Juventus expressing interest in landing his signatures; however, he chose against a move then, though a move to Liverpool will be an opportunity too good to reject.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano spoke about Adeyemi with Caught Offside, suggesting that it is too soon to be talking about any possible move to Anfield Stadium. Speaking via. Caught Offside, the Italian journalist said:
“Juventus wanted Adeyemi last summer, but since that moment when Karim decided to stay at Dortmund, nothing concrete happened. We’ll see what happens in the future, but for now I think it’s too early to be talking about him and Liverpool.”
We will see how this transfer materialises; though that being said, it could be one of the exciting deals of 2025.
