Boost for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp favourite steps up injury return

Liverpool have been on the receiving end of multiple injury problems off late; however, for a change of times, Arne Slot is set to receive an injury boost as Harvey Elliott takes a massive step in his rehabilitation following a foot fracture.

The former Fulham maestro was on the receiving end of a foot fracture in the England U21s training during September’s international break, and he reported back to Kirkby to undergo his further treatment. While the initial time line suggested that he would be serving the sidelines for six weeks and could eye a return against Chelsea, a fixture set to kick off in the upcoming weekend, that appears highly unlikely at the moment.

However, what comes as massive news for the Kop: the 21-year-old was seen running around the outdoor pitches at the AXA training centre with rehab physio Joe Lewis on Monday evening. And the player also did some strength training in the gym.

Will Elliott be fit for Liverpool’s clash against Chelsea?

Elliott makes progress in recovery

Given there are still five days before the Reds host Chelsea at Anfield Stadium, the fact that Elliott is still not doing any ball work makes him unlikely to be in contention for the game against the West Londoners.

And Arne Slot would be looking to be a bit cautious about the starlet, given his importance to the side when fit.

Given that he has only started light work, a return at the end of the month when the Merseyside Reds face Brighton would sound more realistic.

For now, it is important not to rush the 21-year-old and ensure he fully recovers before making his return to competitive action.
