Liverpool, enjoying a bright start to the season, now face concerns with the announcement that long-serving director of scouting and recruitment Dave Fallows will leave the club by the end of the year. Fallows, who has been part of the Anfield staff for 12 years, is departing as the club transitions to a new structure following Jurgen Klopp’s departure as manager this summer.
Fallows joined Liverpool in 2012, coming from his role as Manchester City’s first-team scouting and recruitment co-ordinator. His contributions to the Reds’ recruitment team were pivotal in assembling a squad that dominated under Klopp. His departure follows an overhaul of football operations at both Liverpool and parent company Fenway Sports Group earlier this year.
What it means for the club
In line with his long-standing commitment to the club, Fallows initially decided to delay his departure to assist with the transition to the new football leadership team. Now that this process has been successfully navigated, he has opted to conclude his tenure as a key figure in Liverpool’s football operations structure by the end of the year.
“I have been very privileged to work for this incredible football club. The fantastic people here starting with the supporters make it so special – to have had the opportunity to work with so many talented players and colleagues past and present who are now friends is something I am very grateful for.”
“The leadership here, from ownership, through to Michael [Edwards], Richard [Hughes], Arne [Slot], Billy [Hogan] and Alex [Inglethorpe], is world-class. I have no doubt they will continue to thrive. They are supported by great people across many departments who I will miss working with but will continue to stay close to.”

Before arriving at Anfield, Fallows worked for Manchester City and previously for Bolton Wanderers. He joined the Wanderers after his time at Prozone, which played a key role in the implementation of analytics in football. At Liverpool, Fallows operated under the guidance of FSG’s CEO of football, Michael Edwards, and sporting director Richard Hughes, who oversaw Fallows along with his colleagues David Woodfine, William Spearman, and Hunter.

Fallows is credited with playing a major role in persuading Jürgen Klopp to sign Mohamed Salah from Roma in 2017. Following the signing of the Egyptian forward, Klopp publicly acknowledged Fallows. We don’t know what the future holds for the club, as there’s a lot to consider, but the team is keen on filling this position. From TKT, we want to wish you a happy retirement and thank you for the good times. YNWA.
