Liverpool returned to winning ways this afternoon with a hard fought 1-0 home win against newly promoted QPR. To be fair to Liverpool, the scoreline could have and should have been much more had it not been for another superb performance from a visiting goal keeper.
After Monday's sobering defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage, Liverpool have, what many fans would consider to be, a golden opportunity to make up some lost ground in the race for the coveted fourth Premiership place to guarantee Champions League football next season.
Another solid and professional performance from Liverpool saw them through to the last four of the Carling Cup beating Chelsea 0-2 on the night. The fringe players for the Reds done the club, the fans and themselves proud with a display that the most teams would expect from their first choice. The night was only marred by an injury to the ever-dependable and super-improved Lucas Leiva which if proves to be as serious as it looked will be a huge blow for Liverpool.
