The pre-season has seen a number of youngsters get a chance to impress Jurgen Klopp due to a few players being busy with the World Cup.
Pedro Chirivella and Nathaniel Phillips is a pair that has played important minutes for the Reds and the Liverpool site caught up with the pair about how things are going with the team.
Phillips played in the 0-0 draw against Bury to ensure we kept a clean sheet and the defender spoke about his first interaction with the first-team.
“At the moment I’m just trying to relish every opportunity I get given because I know in football opportunities are few and far between.
“So any chance I get in front of the manager is like a blessing really. I’ve just got to make the most of it.”
Phillips also added that he will try to keep a place for the US tour squad but with the World Cup players returning, it might be a little difficult for the youngster.
Chirivella, for his part, has returned from a spell with Dutch side Willem II and is looking forward to more minutes with the side.
“It was a good period. I played a lot of minutes that I needed. I think I’ve come back in better shape physically and hopefully I can get more minutes.”
The pair would be looking to continue impressing Klopp and expects to be a part of the squad for not only the remaining matches of the pre-season but also for the main campaign.

We will need to play some squad players in some of the cup games in the season and it would not be a surprise if we see either of Chirivella or Phillips get some minutes for the Reds this season.
