Liverpool will be facing Bournemouth, who are 17th in the premier league, in the fourth round of Capital One Cup. It’s Jurgen Klopp’s fourth match as Liverpool manager and the German is still looking for a win. His first three matches ended in frustrating draws.
Liverpool somehow qualified to the fourth round of the Capital One Cup after defeating Carlisle United on penalties while, Bournemouth qualified to the fourth round after they defeated Preston on penalties. Both the clubs will be looking for a win, but Liverpool is considered as the favourites in the match.
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, confirmed that Daniel Sturridge is still out due to injury and he won’t feature against Bournemouth. Liverpool new arrivals, Christian Benteke and Roberto Firmino are likely to start for them. Klopp has also confirmed that he will be rotating the squad. He said in his press conference that he wants to win the game and rotating the squad does not mean that he takes the capital one cup lightly. Other players like Joe Allen, Kolo Toure, Dejan Lovren and Jordon Ibe are expected to start for Liverpool tomorrow.
Bournemouth are without their top scorer and key player Callum Wilson, who is out due to a cruciate ligament injury. Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth visited Anfield earlier this season in the premier league and the game ended in a 1-0 win for the home side. It was the goal from Christian Benteke that gave the Reds all three points that day.
Jurgen Klopp:
“I’m not here long enough to understand English cups. For me it’s all the same – I want to win games.
It’s the most important cup in the world because it’s the game we have to play tomorrow.”
Jason Tindall (Bournemouth Assistant Manager):
“You have two teams that haven’t won their past few games, so it’s going to be a tough game.”
