With the January transfer window getting closer, Klopp has entered the market for the Reds. Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan are some of the names that are linked with the Red’s coach for the upcoming transfers, albeit these players were previously coached by Klopp in Dortmund. With Klopp’s good bonding with Dortmund players it is not news that many of the Dortmund players’ names are being linked to the move to Anfield.
Another name linked to the same is that of Neven Subotic. The Serbian footballer was previously coached by Klopp in Mainz and Dortmund and is interested to move into Liverpool. Unhappy with his present situation in Dortmund, with Thomas Tuchel preferring Sokratis Papastathopoulos as a partner for Mats Hummels, the move to Liverpool might be a chance for the Serbian defender to once again play his best game with his preferred coach.
Klopp has no reservation on bringing Dortmund players to play for the Merseyside, even though it affects his former club.
German football expert Raphael Honigstein has previously predicted the Serbia international will be top of his wish-list.
“There is probably a deal to be made with Subotic, who has been out of favour,” he said.
“He is one of the few players who was personally picked by Klopp for Dortmund when he was at Mainz.”
