Strongest Possible Liverpool Lineup To Face Dortmund: Origi To Spearhead The Attack

All eyes are on Anfield as Jurgen Klopp hosts his former club in the second leg of the Europa league quarter-finals. The first leg ended 1-1 with Divock Origi grabbing the crucial away goal for the Reds. Klopp had made 7 changes to the side against Stoke on Sunday and the key players got some much-needed rest. Liverpool had a big blow in the first leg with the injury to their skipper Henderson. Here is a look at how Klopp might set the team up for the big night.

Formation: 4-3-3

Goalkeeper: Mignolet

Simon Mignolet, the first choice keeper should start and will need to be very sharp at the posts.

Defence: Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno

Nathaniel Clyne has been the consistent right-back for Liverpool this season and he should be the one to start on the big night. Klopp had rested Sakho and Lovren for the weekend game and they should return to action to stop Dortmund from scoring the away goal. Moreno had a very good game against Stoke and he should be starting at the left-back position.

Midfield: Milner, Can, Allen

Emre Can should be the anchor to the Liverpool midfield and he should start in the defensive midfield position at the center. James Milner should start on the right side of the midfield because that is where Klopp played him in the second half against Dortmund after the entry of Joe Allen. Subsequently, Allen can take up the left midfield position. In the absence of Jordan Henderson, Can will have to dictate the midfield. Milner and Allen will have to support the attacks from the flanks and also track back players during the counter attacks.

Attack: Lallana, Origi, Coutinho

Klopp will need to have his best men who are in form at the front and hence he should go with the combination of Lallana, Coutinho, and Origi. Lallana should take the right flank and try and cause as much damage to the Dortmund defence by making those runs along with Clyne on the right flank. Coutinho should take up the left flank and make his trademark cuts inside and towards the goal. We already witnessed him taking a few shots on goal in the first leg from similar positions and we can expect him to show his magic once again. Divock Origi has been in sensational form in the last two games and he should be the one to spearhead the attack for the home side. If Liverpool can manage an early goal, then it will be an uphill climb for Dortmund and Klopp can capitalize this situation.
