Liverpool were reported to have been following Caner Erkin in March and the scout report were thought to be positive. With the left-back’s contract set to expire in the summer the deal was up for grabs but now as per Express Sport, Inter Milan has hijacked the negotiation and signed the player for £8 million.

Concern over Alberto Moreno’s suitability remains in Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp wants to strengthen the squad and add more depth. Erkin was supposed to be one such component to Jugen Klopp’s well-oiled machine but the Reds seem to have lost the player to Inter. There was expectation for competition though and it was thought to be Everton who too were interested in the player.

Erkin, the 27 year old left back, will receive £2 million a season from Inter as wages and this could have been easily met by many of the Premier League clubs. Hope that the Reds will not regret the decision not to move quicker.
