Forget Buying – These Two Strikers Is What Liverpool Need Next Season

Divock Origi has shown what he is capable of lately as he has managed to score in each of the last five games. In the big Merseyside derby, he was preferred over the experienced Sturridge. This clearly goes to show the faith that Jurgen Klopp has in the 20 year old Belgian striker. Sturridge was also looking very sharp in the derby and he is slowly returning to his original form. Klopp’s men have regained their goal-scoring touch with some high scoring encounters in the last few games.

A possible partnership

Liverpool have had their best season in recent times in 2013-14 when the attacking duo to Suarez and Sturridge were tormenting some of the best defenders of the premiere league. The Reds missed out on the title by the slightest of margins and after the departure of Suarez they are missing a killer partnership up-front. Jurgen Klopp played Origi and Sturridge up-front in the away game and the duo had played well together. Klopp might try and build on this partnership if it fits in his tactical vision and the fans might possibly witness some magic in the coming season.

A striker needed?

The Reds had the services of Benteke but he managed to impress in this season. The Belgian striker might be on his way out in the summer window. With Sturridge and Origi in the side, Liverpool might not be in dire need of a striker but they definitely need a front-man who can play in rotation or if either of them get injured. Klopp is trying to bring Mario Gotze to Anfield and the German playmaker will add that width and flair to the team’s attack. Roberto Firmino is also another player who can play as a striker and Klopp did play him in that position for a lot of games.

The Manager’s words

In one of his recent press conferences, Jurgen Klopp had revealed his plan to use Sturridge and Origi in the team. This is what the manager had to say. “They can be very good together. But at the end, we have to find the solution. Who knows whether I start with one or two or someone comes on and makes a big difference in the game. It is a great situation and hopefully it stays like this.”

The manager is clearly excited and hopeful of the prospect of playing both of them together and the next season will witness a lot of new dimensions to the way Liverpool play.
