Liverpool had been heavily linked with Ousmane Dembele from Rennes for quite some time and there was a report from Bild and SportBild a day earlier when they said that Dortmund has agreed to pay the release clause for the player and has left behind Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
It was a strange report considering that the player’s agent has repeated several times that there is no release clause in place. Now FootMercato
in France has reported their version after contacting the agent directly. As per the conversation, there is no agreement with Borussia Dortmund and the report is just speculation at best. Obviously, the German reports were just made up by the media to compete with Premier League clubs. This is a major boost as the player is still available and Liverpool are interested. Jurgen Klopp is looking to build Liverpool to challenge for major trophies again and a talented winger like Dembele can be a handful for the opponents.
