After his impressive display at Sporting Lisbon, Liverpool purchased Joao Teixeira for £850,000 in 2012. However the player’s contract has expired and Jurgen Klopp has allowed the player to leave for free.
According to the contract, as the player is still under 24, Liverpool will get a financial boost of £250,000 but could have sold him for a higher price if the transfer would have happened to one of Liverpool’s domestic rivals. The player has decided to move to Portugal. If he had moved to a club in the Premier League, the Reds would receive a fee of £1 million plus.
The young talented midfielder was impressive before coming to Anfield, but has failed to make a lasting impression. He had made 8 appearances for the Liverpool first team and stayed with the club for 4 years. He was also on loan at Bright and Brentford and had impressed, but never turned out to be a Liverpool material. Sigh!
