Liverpool started their pre-season training with a positive result as the Reds managed to defeat Tranmere Rovers few days back. The margin between the score wasn’t that impressive, but the side somehow managed to grab the winner. The German manager Jurgen Klopp gave a debut to all the new arrivals, but it was Danny Ings, who scored the only goal of the game.

Anyways, a win is a win; no matter how or by how many. The pre-season actually plays a major role for the new manager, as this is where he identifies the key areas that needs to be developed.

So far, Klopp has completed three signings in the summer and many reports are suggesting that the German manager is looking for more. There are many areas where Liverpool need an upgrade, notably; the forward line, the central line and the defensive line (left back). If the manager fulfills the need, the club would be a beast in the Premier League.

There are many players in Europe who are linked with a move to the Anfield, and here, we give you the names of those three players, who Liverpool need to sign, but probably won’t be signing due to some reasons:

  1. Mario Gotze-

The 24-year-old German midfielder, who scored the only goal in the 2014 World Cup final was regularly touted as a potential target for the Merseyside club and many even reported that the Reds are on the verge to complete the transfer. Gotze has previously worked with Klopp during his time at Dortmund, and therefore, he would be a perfect player to drive the young Liverpool team.

Gotze was having a very hard time with the German Champions Bayern Munich as he failed to make it to the first team under Guardiola, but as the Bavarians announced a new manager, Gotze decided to stay at the club to fight for the spot. But his celebration was cut short by the newly arrived Carlo Ancelotti as he recently stated that he won’t guarantee a first team spot to Gotze in the upcoming season.

  1. Gonzalo Higuain-

The 28-year-old Argentine striker enjoyed a fine season with the Italian giants Napoli last season, and recently, it has been reported that the player has refused to sign a new contract with the club and that has fueled the rumours of him travelling to England. During the Copa America, the Liverpool manager was spotted alongside Higuain’s brother, who also works as his agent and that gave away speculations that Klopp is looking to sign the player.

Soon after that incident, there were reports claiming that the player himself has stated a desire to play alongside Klopp, but nothing has been concluded since then. It is no secret that the Reds need an experienced striker, and for that, Higuain is the best possible option for the team.

  1. Jonas Hector-

As we mentioned earlier, Liverpool need a left back and they need one desperately. With Moreno doing nothing better under Klopp, it was understood that Klopp is looking to replace the Spaniard by signing a new and improved defender. Many players were linked at that moment of time, including Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell, the former Lorient defender Raphaël Guerreiro, who recently joined Borussia Dortmund, but there was a player, who was rumoured to be the priority of the manager.

We are here talking about the 26-year-old 1. FC Köln’s left back Jonas Hector. After his wonderful season with the German side, he was reportedly targeted by Jurgen Klopp as the manager saw him the best replacement for the error prone Alberto Moreno, but as always, nothing has been materialized and now it looks like the move is nothing but a myth as it is reported that Barcelona are planning to make a move for Hector.
