Why Stoke City Are Getting A Gem Of A Midfielder From Liverpool

Liverpool’s manager Jürgen Klopp has set his sights on making Liverpool like never before. The German manager has achieved so much for Liverpool in this short tenure the board handed him a new and improved contract. Since his arrival at the Anfield, the players look  determined. No offense, but at the time of Brendan Rodgers, the entire squad seemed lost and it seemed like they are doing just what they have been told to.

But the German’s arrival changed everything. The entire squad revived from nowhere, and eventually they became the top contenders in Europe. Of course, they lost, but they made it clear what they wanted to do. Almost every single player enjoyed their stay, but one name remained unnoticed; Joe Allen. The 26-year-old Welshman, who signed for the club in 2012, is still unable to find a first team role. Although he was praised for the performance he gave in the second half of the previous season, he still failed to make it to the starting XI.

Now, according to the reports from Sky Sport, Liverpool have agreed a £13m fee from the fellow English side Stoke City for the start midfielder. It was expected that the manager and the player would have a discussion before making any move, but now it seems like the club has finalized the deal.

But the German refused to comment on the Stoke offer after his side’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield on Wednesday, saying:

“We cannot comment because we couldn’t do anything else all day so we shouldn’t start with this.

“I feel good (about Joe). I like the guy and I really think he is a wonderful football player. I knew this before the European Championships, I saw it during the Euros and I know it now.

“I have said all I can say about this. It is all about respecting contracts, negotiating or not – whatever – and making a transfer or not.”

It is fair to say that Joe Allen is the player, who could turn any team’s midfield into a top one. At Stoke, he will be reuniting with the former Liverpool man Charlie Adam. It is understood that Stoke’s manager Mark Hughes is looking to bolster his squad to compete in the next campaign of the Premier League, which is going to be a most thrilling campaign ever.

Looking at Stoke’s current squad, practically they do not really have a central midfielder, who could support the attack as well as defend. Of course ,they have Shaqiri and Arnautovic, but both the players usually play at wings and do not really falls back at times.

Right at this very moment, the manager is struggling in terms of his players’ fitness. He has already lost Stephen Ireland, who is out due to a broken and leg and Ibrahim Affelay, who will be unavailable for a long time due to his cruciate ligament, and therefore, Joe Allen could do the trick for the manager. He is a hardworking and disciplined individual and loves to struggle for the ball. We all remember the heroics of the Welsh Xavi in the recently concluded Euro 2016. Joe Allen worked beautifully with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey and controlled the midfield in most of the games they played in the tournament. He is a perfect deep-lying playmaker with good passing range and good ball control. Maybe Klopp prefer much more aggressive players like Can in the midfield but other teams can definitely make use of Joe Allen’s skill sets.

Well, to be perfectly honest, he deserves a better team than Stoke, but in the premier league, you never know, with technically strong players like Shaqiri and Arnautovic around him, Joe Allen can really prove his worth and Stoke can easily offer him a regular football and this is where he could improve himself. His experience could help the side a lot and his transfer will make Hughes’ side better than ever.
