Liverpool took on AS Roma at St. Louis in their pre-season friendly match and the game ended in a defeat with a scoreline of 1-2. The Reds were not looking sharp in the attack as they were against Milan and the Italian side was constantly on the front foot. Here is a look at how the players performed in the game.
Looked really good between the post and managed to make a few fine saves from El Shaarawy. However, could not keep a tough shot from Dzeko going in the back of the net. A good debut performance nevertheless.
Was good defensively and combined well on the right flank with Mane. The right wing can be an attacking threat for Liverpool this season with these two.
Klavan was not at his best as he along with Lovren were pushed back deep by the relentless attacks by Roma. He was not able to control Dzeko in the box.
Lovren could have done much better and will certainly have to showcase a better performance once the season starts.
Once again started as a left back and did a decent job at the back. He also made a few runs and delivered some good crosses. His corner was eventually converted into Liverpool’s first goal.
The German international was not looking in the best shape and needs some game time before the season starts.
The new signing was made to start in the defensive midfield position, but was not that effective as it was not his favoured position.
Did not get a chance to make those quick runs at the wider areas. But combined well with Sturridge in the attack.
The Brazilian was good, but did not have that sparkling effect on the game. His work rate was good.
The youngster had a good game as not only he managed to get his name on the scoresheet, but was also holding the ball and attacking well.
The forward was impressive and had a good game. He is looking to gear up and get his form before the season starts.
Came on as a substitute and made a good save to deny Dzeko’s header from close range. But couldn’t stop the follow up and conceded the goal.
Left the field with an injury adding to the already present left-back woes for the manager.
Came in and played at the center back position. Did his job towards the end of the game.
Was poor at the back and did not clear on the follow up leading to the goal. Needs to improve his defending inside the box.
He is looking like a good right back prospect for the future.
Had a good game since he came on. Although did not manage to change the scoreline.
Did not have much of an impact on the game. Needs to get into his strides before the season starts.
The forward had a decent game. If he manages to do something extraordinary, Klopp might consider playing him.
Not at the best of his form and will have to work on it.
Ings showed good work rate and was running hard. He also had a shot on goal.
