The pre-season fixtures have kicked in and the Reds are having varied results in their matches. They managed to win against Milan with a comfortable margin of two goals, but lost out to their Italian counterparts Roma in a closely contested game. These fixtures are giving the fans as well as the manager a lot of hints as what to expect for the coming season. There have been a few players who have been impressive for the Reds and there have been a few disappointments as well. Let us have a look at the top 5 performers in the pre-season fixtures so far.
Marko Grujic-
The Serbian midfielder made his debut against Fleetwood town and had an excellent game as he was impressive in the midfield and also scored on his debut. The tall midfielder looks like an interesting prospect for this season and with his strength and agility, he can do wonders at his new club if things work out well for the lad.
Divock Origi-
His game is compared by many to that of Luis Suarez and the youngster is giving justice to that comparison with impressive performances. Against Milan, he scored a terrific goal from a tight angle and made good contributions in the attack. He is making his presence felt in the attack and Klopp will definitely consider him as an attacking alternative.
Daniel Sturridge-
Liverpool’s hopes rely a lot on this man and he is getting his form back through the pre-season fixtures. His performances have the spark which was lost since quite some time and if he manages to maintain his fitness, this season might just be one to remember for the Englishman. Also, he has shown quick feet in these games which makes him a threat and the first choice for Klopp.
Roberto Firmino-
The Brazilian, who will be having his second season with the club, is looking in good shape. He was seen making runs and creating chances in the games that he featured in. Firmino also managed to score a goal against Milan and his attacking touch is gradually getting better. The striker will need to be at his best if his side is looking to finish in the top 4.
Danny Ings-
Ings was absent for almost the entire season due to a severe injury and did not get a chance to contribute in his first year at Liverpool. However, the striker is back to fitness and is looking to cover up for the lost ground. It will be interesting to see how Klopp utilizes Ings in his current line up.
