Liverpool youngster Jon Flanagan is set to leave the Reds on a season-long loan deal to Burnley. The 23-year-old defender is set to spend the 2016-2017 campaign at the Clarets.

The player, who once played for England will have to move to Burnley as his development at the Anfield stalled due to a knee injury which is taking time to heal.

The Reds believe that the player can grab a regular first team spot and thus, they are not moving ahead with a permanent deal for the player hence, making his move to Burnley a loan deal.

Liverpool are banking on a season-long loan move to the club under Sean Dyche will help him develop and recover fully from his knee injury.

Flanagan signed a new contract at the Reds last season and the Liverpool is keen on seeing the player play the remaining years at the Anfield in the first team. The aforementioned contract will expire in 2019.
