Why Signing This Real Madrid Youngster Will Be A Good Option For Liverpool

The transfer sagas continue for Liverpool and the strongest link at the moment is with the 17-year-old midfielder from Real Madrid – Martin Odegaard. Jurgen Klopp is currently exploring his second choice options in the attacking midfield and the Norwegian looks like a highly probable one with Liverpool being his favorite destination. Klopp will be more than happy if this deal pulls off as an alternate addition in the attacking midfield will be a major boost for the manager. Currently, Liverpool do have a few options at their disposal in attacking midfield but an alternate backup does not seem a bad option at all.

The possibility

Apart from the fact that playing at Liverpool was the dream for Martin, the Reds had earlier approached the player in 2015 as well but lost out to Real Madrid. Also, when Jurgen Klopp was with Borussia Dortmund, he did want the services of the Norwegian midfielder. Another important factor here is that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has clearly mentioned that they will be more than happy to let Odegaard go on a loan because at the moment they don’t have a place for him in the starting line-up.

A fit at Anfield?

Odegaard plays in the attacking midfield position and Liverpool already have the likes of Wijnaldum, Mane and Firmino who can play at the position. Getting Odegaard in the side will be a good option but he will surely not get that many starts. Klopp might consider using him as an option for some of the games, but the first team football looks seemingly difficult at the moment for the player. However, his father wants him to play in the Bundesliga and Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg have already shown interest in the talented midfielder. However, the possibility of him moving to Liverpool looks high considering all the factors but there is nothing to guarantee at the moment. For Jurgen Klopp, the top priority is to sign a left back and then look to fill in other positions.

When asked about the possibility of a transfer after the Mainz game, this is what the manager had to say.

“Neither Hector nor Odegaard called me and told me they want to be Liverpool players.”

Whether this deal works or not, Jurgen Klopp will surely have to address the full-back woes on priority with every passing day building pressure for the manager.
