Food For Thought: 3 Players Liverpool Should Have Loaned Out This Summer

The manager, Jurgen Klopp, completed seven signings this summer and that is it. The manager may have bought new names, but this is no secret that many areas still have been left untouched, especially the defensive area.

Besides signings, the manager hasn’t hesitated to allow players to leave on either permanent or temporary basis. The latest being; Luis Alberto, joining Lazio on a permanent basis, and Andre Wisdom, moving on loan to Red Bull Salzburg. Furthermore, Mario Balotelli and Lazar Markovic have also left. The first one signed for the Ligue 1 side Nice permanently, while the latter moved to the Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon on loan.

A great transition has happened at Anfield, but we still feel that the cutting edge is still missing. The team may have signed Mane, Wijnaldum, Matip and Lovren, but the tenacity on the left-hand side and the rigidness in the central area are still something which has been left out. Besides all of that, a leader is what Liverpool is missing right at this very moment.

This is no secret that Liverpool  have a huge squad and the absence of European football will make it difficult for the manager to manage the team, therefore, we believe that the manager should have let some players to move on loan, and here are three of them:

  1. Tiago Ilori-

The 23-year-old was signed by Liverpool in the summer of 2013. The Portuguese centre-back spent three loan spells at La Liga, Ligue 1 and in the Premier League itself, but wherever he went, he struggled for the first team football. Earlier, Olympiakos, Eintracht Frankfurt, Freiburg, Valencia and former loan club Granada were interested in signing him, but nothing materialized, the reason being; Liverpool’s asking prize.

The player has completely lost his place in the starting XI and the reports have suggested that he will now be working alongside Beale and academy director Alex Inglethorpe and will be serving the U-23 side. This surely is the heart-breaking news for the player himself, hence, we personally feel that he should have been allowed to leave.
