Injury Update: Star Midfielder Expected To Feature Against Chelsea

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is set to hand a major injury boost as the reports from Liverpool Echo has claimed that the German international is expected to return to full team training at Melwood on Tuesday, and could come into contention for Friday’s game at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old midfielder missed the outings against Tottenham and Leicester City after suffering an ankle injury in the Reds’ EFL Cup win at Burton Albion last month, and now, he is expected to feature against the Stamford Bridge outfit this Friday.

The 22-year-old returned late to pre-season following Germany’s run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals and looked in good nick before picking up an injury against Burton. Can is being closely monitored by staff at the club, and as long as he stays injury free, then Can is expected to play a part on Friday.

Besides Can, the defender, Dejan Lovren, is also being monitored by the staff. The Croatian suffered a black eye in a training ground collision on Friday, and was forced to sit out the win over Leicester due to the swelling. Liverpool later confirmed that the player hasn’t suffered a concussion in the accident, and the 27-year-old posted a picture on Instagram on Monday afternoon showing the eye looking a lot less troubled than it had been on Saturday.

The manager then used the Brazilian midfielder, Lucas Leiva to replace the Croatian and he produced a fine performance but was found guilty by an error which led to the Foxes’ goal. Furthermore, Chelsea too are having an issue in the defence as their skipper, John Terry, is likely to miss the showdown after suffering an ankle injury in his side’s draw at Swansea on Sunday and has been undergoing treatment.
