The Merseyside club Liverpool are reportedly looking to offer their 28-year-old attacker Adam Lallana a new and improved contract, according to Mirror.
Lallana, whose contract is set to expire in 2019, has been a prolific player for both the club and the country. He scored the only goal in England’s victory against Slovakia and scored his second league goal of the season in Saturday’s 4-1 rout of Leicester City.
The former Southampton man is currently adopting his new role under Klopp and has been looking really set for the first time since his £25 million from the South Coast club. Liverpool plans to make contact with Lallana’s representatives before the end of the year and begin discussions on an extension to his current deal.
For two seasons, the 28-year-old played a more attacking role with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho, but the arrival of Sadio Mane hindered his spot and the manager is now using him centrally in the new 4-3-3 formation.
The England international is settled on Merseyside and will believe his future remains there with his influence integral to what Klopp is seeking to achieve.
Lallana was signed in the same summer as Germany midfielder Emre Can, Dejan Lovren, Divock Origi and Alberto Moreno, who will all have two years remaining on their respective contracts at the end of the season.
Liverpool have been in talks with Can’s agent for a lengthy spell already, with securing the German’s future, along with that of Origi, of paramount importance to the club’s fortunes in the long term.
