£5.1m Liverpool Star Has Worked Out Plans To Break Into The First Team

Liverpool’s fine start to the season has seen Jurgen Klopp stick with a tried and tested midfield trio. Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana are preferred in the midfield by the German manager. And it has been tough for others to break into the team, especially for Marko Grujic.

The youngster was signed by the Liverpool manager in January 2016 but the Serbian only came to England at the start of this season. Grujic did state that he came to Liverpool because Klopp flew to sign him from Serbia.

The 20-year-old has only made a couple of fleeting appearances for the Reds and is yet to start a game in the Premier League. But the Serbian is looking forward to the challenge of breaking into the Liverpool side as a regular.

Grujic was quoted by the Daily Star as saying:

“All of the players in my position, and other positions, are playing very well.

“We have had good results to start the season. We had some hard matches away.

“We will be better from week to week – that’s the most important thing.”

The midfielder also stated that working hard in training is the best way to break into the side. “I will try to show my skills in training to get more minutes in the Premier League.”

Grujic did play a few minutes against Hull City and enjoyed the atmosphere at Anfield as well.

“I made my competitive debut against Derby in the cup and then came on at Anfield. The feeling is nice. I will try to keep working hard.”

How tough will it be for Grujic to break into this side?

Liverpool have been excellent and their midfield has worked like a well-oiled machine. The trio of players stated above have been brilliant and seem to have a telepathic connection. For the likes of Marko Grujic and even Emre Can to break into the side, they would need a bit of luck.

The cup games would be the best chance to play for Liverpool and hopefully, impress Jurgen Klopp. The German is known for giving chances to players in form and if Grujic can show what he is capable of in the EFL Cup, he could get a chance against some of the weaker sides in the league. Additionally, Grujic did impress in the EFL Cup win over Derby.

Grujic was one of the highly rated players in the Serbian league before he was snapped up by Liverpool. The 20-year-old did win the Serbian SuperLiga in 2015-16. He was great with the Serbian U20 team as they lifted the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2015 as well.

The former Red Star Belgrade player still has a long way to go if he is to become a regular in the Liverpool team. But he has time on his side and if he keeps putting in the hard work in training and impresses in his cameos, he will be spending more time on the pitch than off it.
