Liverpool Have Signed A Lucrative Three-year Deal

Liverpool have signed a new deal with the Malaysian Airlines, based on a report from the Liverpool Echo. The Premier League club had a deal with Indonesia’s Garuda Airlines previously but the new deal is expected to be more lucrative as the airline becomes the club’s official global airline partner.

The Reds do have a great fan base in Asia and this deal with the Malaysian airline giants will surely lead to a greater amount of access for the fans in that region.

Billy Hogan, Liverpool’s chief commercial offer was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:

“Liverpool and Malaysia have always shared a special passion for football – when we visited Malaysia on our pre-season tour in 2011 and 2015, the reception was incredible.

“The partnership is a reflection of this bond and we are very much looking forward to a bright future working with Malaysia Airlines.”

The other side of the deal were just as happy with gaining a big club like Liverpool on their side. Peter Bellew, the chief executive of Malaysia Airlines was quoted as saying:

“We’re delighted to welcome Liverpool FC to the Malaysia Airlines family.

“Both brands have a long and illustrious history with similar cultures rooted around a sense of family.

“Liverpool FC is one of the most followed clubs in the world, including around 100million followers in South East Asia and 40million in China, our key markets.

“Additionally, Liverpool FC will go a long way in strengthening our brand in the UK, our gateway to Europe.”

Big signings to come for the Reds?

When FSG took over the football club, they had a vision that Liverpool would run on itself, without any money coming in from the owners and that is coming true bit by bit. The Premier League club have seen a slew of sponsorship deals which have grown in value year after year.

Be it the replacement of Carlsberg as the official sponsor on the jersey to bringing in Subway and Dunkin Donuts, the owners are trying to bring in as many lucrative deals as possible.

While this might seem a bit excessive, the additional deals ensure that the club has a steady flow of revenue coming in. What this also means is that the club does not always have to rely on gate receipts or qualification for the Champions League to be on an equal running with some of the other teams.

The additional revenue could be used in a number of ways. From the stadium expansion that has been touted to bringing in new players. It is good news for Asian fans of the club as well.

This deal should guarantee that Liverpool will be touring Malaysia probably from next season and will help expand the reach of the Merseyside club to other Asian countries as well. A win-win situation for all.
