Video: Former Liverpool Star Shows His True Loyalty With His New Tattoo

If there ever was a living legend to show that Liverpool is more than just a club, it has to be Daniel Agger. While many will argue that Agger isn’t a Liverpudlian and will never hold the ranks of Steven Gerrard or Jamie Carragher, the former Danish international is winning hearts with his tattoos.

The 31-year-old might not be playing competitive football anymore but his undying commitment to his club was always there to see. Even in 2012, when he was linked with a move away from Anfield, the centre-back had the letters “YNWA” tattooed on his knuckles, well, this time, he has gone a step further.

The Liver bird on my fingers

Agger is a qualified tattoo artist and we have seen a number of large tattoos spread across his body but the former Brondby player has gotten a couple of Liver birds etched on his fingers.

In a video for Tattoodo, Agger not only spoke about his love for tattoos but which tattoo was his first. It was a school trip to Paris that led to Agger’s first tattoo that too only at the age of 15!

Even in the video, the former Liverpool star explains why he got the famous YNWA tattooed and how it was meant to be a symbol of trust and support for the fans. In the fickle world of football, a player barely stays at a club for more than 2-3 years and when many clubs, including Barcelona and AC Milan came knocking at Liverpool’s door, it was expected that Agger would leave.

“They had a big possibility to see me for a lot of money,” Agger states in the video.

“Two or three days before the transfer window closed, and I basically closed all the talk with that (YNWA tattoo).”

The Dane however, decided to stay at the club and fight for his place. That earned him a lot of respect from the Liverpool fans and really set him apart from the countless others to have put on the famous red.

Later on the video he states his love for the city and the club:

“I still miss Liverpool, as a football club but also as a city.”

A legend at the club

Agger played more than 230 games for the Reds and it could have been a lot more had it not been for his injuries. The 31-year-old had joined Liverpool from Brondby in 2006 but injuries limited his time on the pitch.

Agger didn’t even win the FA Cup in 2006 and only won a league cup and a Community Shield while at the Reds. But his undying passion for the club and tattoos have ensured he remains in the hearts of all Liverpool fans.
