Possible Move On The Cards For Liverpool Lad Despite Signing A Contract Recently – Undergoes Trial With League One Club

One of Liverpool’s rising stars is set for a loan spell at League One club Chesterfield. Tom Brewitt is set to leave the Merseyside club on loan, despite having signed a new deal over the summer, according to Express sport.

According to reports from the Liverpool Echo, Brewitt did feature for Chesterfield in one of their reserve games, a 3-0 win over Rotherham United, a few days ago. Chesterfield seems to be impressed by the 19-year-old and are looking to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.

The terms of the trial allows Brewitt to train at the club and also play in non-first team games. This should help him get some valuable playing time under his belt. Brewitt did have a bright future at the club but the signing of players such as Tiago Ilori and Mamadou Sakho greatly reduced his chances of making it into the first team.

Who is Brewitt?

The 19-year-old was born in Toxteth and has been part of the Liverpool academy since he was 11 years old. Brewitt had also captained the U18 side and his impressive performances saw the Reds give him a new contract over the summer.

The Englishman was also a part of the Liverpool first team that took on Arsenal at the Emirates in 2015. Brewitt has also represented the English team at the youth level but ever since he broke into the U23 side, his playing time has been greatly reduced due to the players ahead of him.

While Chesterfield are 17th in the League One standings, the fact that Brewitt can train there and pick up more playing time will surely help him out.

High hopes for the future

Brewitt was almost released by the Liverpool team earlier this year but it was just a clerical mistake. The youngster was speaking to the Liverpool Echo

about how he hopes to play for the senior Liverpool side.

“There were times last season when Klopp played the youngsters in big games and the good thing for us is that everyone held their own.

“It means Klopp will trust and believe in the academy and want to look towards us again because he knows we will deliver.

“It gives everyone hope and we’re all working hard every day in training to get the opportunity to impress.

“He’s given us a chance and a clear pathway but he’s not only giving us a chance, he’s using the young players in big games. He wants us to do well and we can see that.”

Brewitt might not be on Klopp’s radar for now but if he performs well at Chesterfield, there is hope for him. After all, Sheyi Ojo was away on loan at Wolverhampton and now seems to be a regular squad player for the team.
