Liverpool started out the 2016-2017 season with a confidence-boosting 4-3 win over Arsenal at the Emirates stadium, and since the team has gone from strength to strength, except that minor blip against Burnley. Well, there have been some hiccups at the back, but while going forward, Klopp’s men have looked the most lethal in the division, the stats prove exactly that. The summer signing of Wijnaldum and Mane have settled in well, the former Southampton man, in particular, has been in fantastic touch.
Liverpool squad looks fairly settled, however, there are still some gaps in the squad, which Klopp might need to plug in the coming January transfer window. Since the end of last season, there have been talks of bringing in a proper left-back to replace Alberto Moreno who is has been experiencing a slump in form for quite some time. Although James Milner has done a good job as the make-shift left back, but it is very much the case of Square pegs in round holes. In central defence too, Klopp could do with another experienced player, especially given the horrific injury record Liverpool defenders have had in the past few seasons. Here are the three players, we feel that Klopp should buy in the coming transfer window.
Jonas Hector
Hector was heavily linked with Liverpool in the summer but nothing concrete materialised. Klopp is understood to be a big admirer of the German, especially after his impressive performance in the summer European Championship. It will not be easy for Klopp and his team to take the defender away from his current club FC Koln, where he has recently signed a new deal. The fact that Hector will immediately slow the left-back problem should keep Klopp’s attention.
