Liverpool Are Interested In Signing Up This Uruguayan Hitman

Jurgen Klopp certainly believes in the power of youth football, especially after stating earlier that he would look to use players from the academy before jumping into the transfer market. One youngster who had been at the club for a trial is 17-year-old Agustin Davila.

The Uruguayan hitman was at the Premier League club and according to reports from IBTimes UK, Liverpool are interested in signing up the player. Davila does have a great record of scoring goals for Atletico Penarol and is currently back in South America with the youth side of the club.

Davila has scored 100 goals in the various age groups at the club. He has also been the top scorer at the U14, U15 and U17 level. Davila missed out on topping the scoring charts at the U16 age group due to an injury which kept him out of the side for a while.

Performances keep Liverpool interested

While the South American scouts of the Merseyside club have kept an eye on Davila for a couple of years, his performances at Liverpool were good too. The 17-year-old continued his fine goal scoring form by bagging a goal against Walsall.

Davila would be another great attention to an academy full of stars but it is to be seen whether his parent club is willing to lose out another star in the making. The side had already lost out Federico Valverde to La Liga giants Real Madrid in July.

The youngster, however, was given the star tour it seems and he was in attendance as the Reds drew against bitter rivals Manchester United at Anfield a week ago. Liverpool fans will be hoping that Davila can turn out to be another Luis Suarez in the making. And from the little we have seen of the youngster, Davila can certainly become the next great Uruguayan forward.

There will be tough competition in the Liverpool ranks, there can be no question about that. The Reds have talented players such as Sheyi Ojo and Ben Woodburn who are on the cusp of breaking into the first team. And Davila would have to steal some thunder from these players if he is to catch the eye of Jurgen Klopp.

There are a number of top European clubs who are monitoring the situation of the Penarol youngster and if Liverpool are ever to let go of the option to sign him up, Davila will be on his way to Italy or Spain. The Reds have the upper hand now and should not let it go.
