Liverpool Legend Praises This 24-Year-Old Star, Says He Is Ready To Play For Real Madrid

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has stated that Philippe Coutinho is now good enough to play for almost any side in the world. The 24-year-old Brazilian was signed from Inter Milan in 2013 and put in some great performances but his inconsistency always was an issue.

This season, however, the Brazilian has been in great form for the Reds and has helped the side stay close to the top of the table. His performances have caught the eye of many and Carragher was full of praise for the mercurial attacker.

The Sky Sports pundit wrote in his Daily Mail column and believed that Coutinho was the reason for Liverpool’s great start to the season.

“Coutinho has become one of the stars of the Premier League, the driving force behind Liverpool’s impressive early form and the key to them sustaining what could yet become a challenge for the title.”

The Englishman also stated that Coutinho could play for any Premier League side and even stated that the Brazilian could become a Galactico as well.

“He is playing at such a level that you could put him in the No 10 position of any of Liverpool’s rivals — Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United — and he would fit in seamlessly and enhance their quality.

“There used to be a time when I would roll my eyes. Philippe Coutinho’s name would be mentioned alongside a team such as Real Madrid but I never took it seriously. I’m not rolling my eyes any longer.”

Liverpool is home for Coutinho

The former Inter man has often been subject to crazy transfer rumours and the Brazilian Ronaldo even stated that he would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid. La Liga’s Barcelona have also been linked with a move for the 24-year-old and it might be hard to keep him at Liverpool.

Fortunately for the Reds, Coutinho had earlier stated that he finds Liverpool to be his home and isn’t thinking about moving anytime soon.

That will come as great news for the Liverpool fans and with the form the Brazilian is carrying this season, the Merseyside club could end up winning some sort of trophy. Coutinho has formed a great partnership with the likes of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. And the trio has done their best to help Liverpool become the top scorers in the Premier League.

Carragher also stated that Liverpool is Coutinho’s team at the moment. The Reds had to rely on the likes of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez in the distant past but the Brazilian is the man who is the most important for the Reds.

“Gerrard and Suarez have gone and Coutinho is now the man,” added Carragher. “He is becoming Liverpool’s perfect 10.”
