Liverpool Target Claims Wayne Rooney Is The Player He Loved The Most

Liverpool target and current Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic has revealed that Manchester United was the club that he supported when he was young and Wayne Rooney was “the guy” for him. The American teenager was speaking to Daily mail and also stated that English football is a big reason as to why he has been doing well in the Bundesliga.

The 18-year-old has certainly made a name for himself this season after breaking into the Dortmund first team. Pulisic has already scored a couple of goals and provided three assists in the Bundesliga but his school days in England were something he highlighted upon.

“It’s a big reason where I am today.

“A lot of people don’t realise but it really brought on my passion for the game. After school every day, I was just out for hours in the park, playing with my schoolmates.

“That’s really where my love for the game started to come alive and that was a big part of my development.”

Football seemed fun for Pulisic

The 18-year-old, like many Americans, did take up the sport in school but enjoyed it greatly. Even at an early age, Pulisic thought he could achieve something playing the beautiful game.

“I thought [before] it was just for fun.

“I just started to love it so much and I said: ‘Wow. I’m pretty good! I think I can do something with this game’.”

The American international has grown leaps and bounds at Dortmund this season. Pulisic had joined the side in 2015 but he did play a year in England with Brackley Town. Now, the youngster plays in front of thousands in the Bundesliga and playing in front of packed stadiums doesn’t seem to affect him.

A wanted man for Klopp

Pulisic has been consistently linked with a move to Liverpool but the youngster has been in the radar for a number of sides this season. The American can play in a range of position, mostly in attack and it is no surprise that the versatile player is someone that Klopp wants to bring to Merseyside.

Young, athletic and dynamic, the fact that Pulisic played in England and knows the conditions and the country well will only help spread the rumours. Liverpool will have to make a large bid to pry him away from Dortmund and the fact that Pulisic is getting so much playing time under Thomas Tuchel could be a deterrent to him moving away.
