Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could be on his way to raid Russia in search of the next player to join the Reds. Sardar Azmoun, the 21-year-old striker of FC Rostov has been linked with a move to Liverpool as reported by the Guardian. The Iranian player has a decent scoring record for the Russian club and has already scored thrice this season.

It is believed that the Reds have kept a track of the Iranian player and are impressed with his performances. Azmoun has also caught the eye of other Premier League clubs with rivals Everton and Stoke City also interested in the signing of the striker.

The 21-year-old does have a great scoring record for his country as he has bagged 15 goals from just 20 games so far. Azmoun also has scored in this season’s Champions League and could be a great addition for the Reds.

Injuries the main concern for Liverpool

While the signing of Azmoun would mean another youngster coming into the club, the Reds do have a number of concerns in the upcoming months. The Reds have lost out on Danny Ings to a long-term injury and will be without his services till the end of the season.

The other major concern is the fact that Sadio Mane would not be available for the side due to the African Cup of Nations. Mane has been one of the best attackers in the league this campaign and his loss would be a big one for Jurgen Klopp.

The German does have the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi to use but they do not have the same impact for the attack as the former Southampton man has had. Azmoun might not be of the same ilk but he too can do a decent job, however the deal does look unlikely to take place.

No Azmoun for the Reds?

The Merseyside club have been linked with Christian Pulisic of Borussia Dortmund, which makes more sense than bringing in an unknown quantity like Azmoun. He might have a great record in the international scene but he really needs to do more in the European leagues.

Pulisic has also played a year in England and his price point could be the only factor why Liverpool will have a tough time in bringing him to the club. Azmoun has only 18 months left on his contract but his move to England seems too farfetched at the moment and he certainly isn’t a better option than what the Reds already have.
