Liverpool Line Up £26 Million Move For This Midfield General

Liverpool could be looking to bolster their midfield in January and reports suggest that the Reds are willing to pay £26 million for the Mahmoud Dahoud. The Premier League club wes linked with a move in the summer but Borussia Monchengladbach rejected any advances for the 20-year-old as they had already sold Granit Xhaka to Arsenal.

Dahoud was expected to star for Monchengladbach this season but has only made seven appearances all season and hasn’t been in the greatest of form. The Germany U21 international has not been in favour as Tobias Strobl has been preferred in the starting XI. This could be a reason why the Reds would want to try and sign him up in the winter window.

The Express, a German publication, claim that the Merseyside club will come calling in January and are willing to pay £26 million for the midfielder. This does seem like a decent enough deal since the youngster is a talent and will only get better under Jurgen Klopp.

Contract issues for Dahoud

The Monchengladbach star’s contract runs out in 2018 and it is being reported that contract extension talks have come to a grinding halt at Borussia Park. This would certainly intrigue Liverpool and they would try to bring him to Anfield on a cut-price deal.

The Reds have had a great start to their Premier League campaign and sit on top of the table. Their midfield has been effective as well with Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana shining. Emre Can and Georginio Wijnaldum have been rotated to great effect and they too are performing out of their socks.

Dahoud wouldn’t be a starter for the club but if he works hard, he could be a long-term player for the Reds. The German U21 international plays a deep playmaker role and is known for his passing range and tackling.

He can play a little further ahead in an attacking role, which gives him the flexibility to star in in Klopp’s Liverpool team. The Reds need to strengthen their side and the German manager had stated that he would be adding more players in January.

But that would only come in to replace Sadio Mane and the injured Danny Ings. Liverpool have Kevin Stewart in their side, who could be making a run for a first team place. Even Philippe Coutinho can play in midfield but that hasn’t worked out so well this season.

Dahoud seems destined for big things and a move to Liverpool could work out for him and the attraction of Klopp should give the Reds the upper hand in the race for the signing.
