Rival Premier League Manager Backs Liverpool For Title

Liverpool’s title charge has gotten the backing of another figure in the Premier League. The Reds sit pretty on top of the league table after 11 games, which has seen them score 30 goals, the most in the division. And now Everton boss Ronald Koeman has stated that Jurgen Klopp’s men do have a realistic chance of lifting the title.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the former Southampton manager said that he was impressed by how the Liverpool side has played this season.

“It’s still too early to say who will be the favourites, but I have been impressed by Liverpool so far

“Maybe that is not what you might expect the Everton manager to say, but they have been playing some very good football and deserve to be at the top. They have goals in their team and this is what all successful sides need.

“Of course they can be champions this season, they have a good chance, but they are not the only contenders.”

Everton too had a decent start to the campaign but their 5-0 loss at the hands of Chelsea certainly raised a few doubts about their European credentials.

Big Merseyside derby on the cards

With both teams playing a brand of attacking football, the first Merseyside derby of the season will be a cracker. Liverpool will face Everton on 19 December and Koeman stated that the match will be tough to call.

“My Everton team has played Manchester City and Chelsea in the last few weeks and both were very impressive. We managed to draw at City, but you could see the quality of these teams.

“Then we all know what happened at Chelsea, as we lost 5-0 and they put in a very good performance. It was difficult for us, but you have to be impressed from their side, so maybe they can also have a chance.”

There could be another Red winner of the Premier League title

The Dutch manager was also adamant that Manchester United could be in the race for the title. The Red Devils sit eight points behind Liverpool but Koeman believes there are five teams who could win the league.

“I see this as a very open title race,” Koeman said. “You have four or five teams in contention and even though Manchester United have had some problems so far, they can still go on a good run and put some wins together.

“United have a new manager and they will improve in what is an unpredictable Premier League season.”

Liverpool are just one point clear on top of the Premier League from Chelsea but if they continue playing their attacking football it should lead them to some silverware this season, hopefully, their first Premier League title.
