Liverpool Target France International: Player Could Move On A Free Transfer

Liverpool do have the best attack in the Premier League and currently sit on top of the competition but they are in the market for more players to add spark to their attack. The latest player linked with the Merseyside club is Paul-Georges Ntep, according to the Daily Star.

The French midfielder currently plays for Rennes in Ligue 1 and already has nine appearances to his name. The 24-year-old is reportedly out of contract at the end of the season and moving on a free would certainly bring a lot of clubs for his signature.

Arsenal are also considering a move for the twice-capped Frenchman and with a lot of French-speaking players, the Gunners could be in pole position to sign him up.

Liverpool needs a Sadio Mane replacement this season

Jurgen Klopp had earlier stated that the Reds would need to bring in cover for Sadio Mane in January. The Senegalese star moved from Southampton and has been excellent for the side. Mane, along with Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino has pushed Liverpool to the top of the league.

The German manager would have to bring in another player who can do a similar job and Ntep could be the man. The Frenchman can play either in midfield, in a wide role or as a central striker. The 24-year-old is known for his drilling and passing ability, though he isn’t known for doing a lot of defensive work, something that will certainly be a problem for this Liverpool side.

Another thing that could work in his favour is his price tag. Klopp does have a decent transfer record with the likes of Loris Karius and Joel Matip doing pretty well with no money being spent on Matip while Karius is a cheap signing compared to the money spent on Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Reds do have a real chance of winning the league title and they will have to continue playing, in the same way, all season. Ntep isn’t known for being the dynamic star that Liverpool need and bringing him to the club doesn’t really make sense when they have the likes of Sheyi Ojo and Ovie Ejaria already primed and ready.

If Klopp does sign the Frenchman up it will be a surprise for sure but it would be better if we bet on the German bringing more players from the Bundesliga rather than Ligue 1.  Ntep isn’t the worst player to be linked with but he doesn’t seem to be Liverpool quality.
