Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has not played for the senior side since April 2016. The Frenchman was left out of the squad due to a ban by UEFA over the use of banned substances but was subsequently cleared if any wrong doing before the start of the season.
The 26-year-old is still to play a part this season due to a number of transgressions and it is surely a matter of time before he is sent away on loan or even a permanent deal. There are a fair number of clubs who do want the French international in their side and the Mirror
claims that West Bromwich Albion are interested in the former PSG man.The outlet also claims a couple of Italian clubs are looking to bolster their defence in the upcoming window. AC Milan and Inter Milan might not be enjoying the lofty heights of Serie A as they used to around a decade ago but they still could do with some quality at the back.
Both clubs are reportedly looking to sign Sakho up on loan in the winter window and that should be a good move for both club and player as this can be seen as a test if Sakho can actually do well in the more robust Italian league.
For the sake of convenience, Sakho could be looking to remain in England and West Brom would not be the worst place to resurrect his career. The 26-year-old has been playing in the Premier League 2 competition but he does need regular first team football if he is to get back in the national side as well.
The former PSG man would do well under a defensive manager such as Tony Pulis but the Frenchman could be looking at a return to France as well.
There have been many reports claiming that the defender is a target for Lille in Ligue 1. Not only is Lille interested in the signature of the Frenchman, Mario Balotelli has asked Sakho to join the Ligue 1 leaders Nice.
Balotelli has been given a new lease on life under Lucian Favre and it would not be a surprise seeing Sakho leave and join the Italian. The problem would be with the amount paid for the services of the 26-year-old.
The Reds paid close to £18 million for the defender and it would be hard for them to recoup that amount from any club. But the Merseyside club have to get rid of the 26-year-old and whatever cut-price deal they get, it could be snapped up quickly by the management.
