Liverpool have been linked with a number of players in the recent past and another rumour has seen the Merseyside club being at the front to sign one of Belgium’s brightest talents. Youri Tielemans has been starring for Anderlecht this season, much like the last two years and the Reds could finally be landing their hands on the talented midfielder.

The 19-year-old has played 14 league games and five Europa League games this season and has scored a combined eight goals in those competitions. The youngster can play in a defensive role and even in an attacking midfielder’s role and could be the one player that the Reds need as they have been linked with a number of midfielders in the past few months.

The Daily Star believes that Liverpool are keeping tabs on the youngster and could face a lot of competition from five other sides. The outlet believes that Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are all in the running to sign the Belgian talent.

Tielemans is the next great Belgian star

Belgium have had a number of great players coming through their ranks in recent years and Tielemans is just another player from their golden generation. Even though the player is just a teenager, he has already made 114 league appearances for the Belgian side in their league, which is an astonishing number for someone so young.

Tielemans also made his debut for the national side recently as he came on for a few minutes in a friendly game against Holland. He has also won the Belgian Young Professional Footballer of the Year for the 2013–14 and 2014–15 seasons and was also voted as the talent of the year for Belgium in 2014, not a bad record to have,

The youngster does have a lot of quality in him and is tipped to achieve a lot in his career but the Reds might want to sign someone with a bit more experience than what the 19-year-old has. While many will remember, Chelsea signing Romelu Lukaku as a youngster, they still had to send him out on loan to gain experience and that could be one route for the Reds to follow.

But Liverpool do have a lot of quality in their midfield and might look to bring in an international who regularly plays for his national side. Tielemans is a player for the future but with Kevin Stewart and Cameron Brannagan in the side, it might be tough for the Belgian to quickly adapt and make a mark in the Liverpool side.

The Reds do have a great manager in Jurgen Klopp and certainly he would be looking to make his side better but for now, Tielemans needs to play higher level football if he is to succeed at the Reds.
