Done – Liverpool Midfielder (Not Lucas) Set For Loan Move

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp isn’t looking to sell any of his senior staff, apart from Lucas Leiva it seems, but the German is more than happy at letting some youngsters leave in order to pick up some much-needed playing time.

The Echo reports that Liverpool youngster Pedro Chirivella is close to a move to Eredivisie club Go Ahead Eagles, which is good news for the player.

The outlet reports that the Spanish midfielder, who can also play in defence, will join the struggling club until the end of the season and hopefully pick up a lot of playing time in the second half of the season.

The 19-year-old hasn’t played in any of the Premier League games this season and has mostly featured in U23 games for the Merseyside club. Klopp is reportedly impressed with the Spaniard but cannot put him in any matchday squad due to the results the Reds are chalking up and performances of the team.

Chirivella signed for the Premier League club in 2013 from La Liga side Valencia but hasn’t really broken into the side at all. He even missed the start of the season due to injury but now expects to play a few games for the Dutch side.

Liverpool already have a number of quality midfielders in their side and keeping the Spaniard at Anfield would only stunt his growth. The 19-year-old will hope that he can save the Eagles from their precarious position as the club sits last in the Eredivisie and is two points from safety.

Liverpool need quality in their defence

The move would be a good option for the youngster but Liverpool still needs some quality at the back. There are rumours that the Cameroon international side wants Joel Matip banned from club football for the duration of the African Cup of Nations as the defender didn’t join the side for the tournament.

This would leave Liverpool severely handicapped regarding their defence as only Ragnar Klavan and Dejan Lovren would be the fit central defenders on call for almost six weeks.

There was some good news regarding another young defender as Joe Gomez returned to training and is expected to play in a few games during this busy period.

The youngster is another rising star at the club and his playing time has been limited due to an injury he picked up last season. The Englishman would provide Liverpool with defensive solidity and if Chirivella follows this path, he too will become one of the squad players rather soon.
