Juventus Are Looking At Liverpool Midfielder As A Back-up If They Fail To Sign Mahmoud Dahoud

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can certainly has made a big difference to the side this season. The German international has been a favourite of Jurgen Klopp and even though the youngster hasn’t been at his best, Can certainly has had a great season for the Premier League side.

The former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has made 13 appearances in the Premier League and has also chipped in with three goals for the club. Can has been rotated a number of times with Georginio Wijnaldum and it isn’t a surprise that some of the other clubs want to sign the midfielder up.

La Stampa reports that Italian champions Juventus are looking to sign the 23-year-old from the Premier League side. Can has just 18 months left on his current contract and while Juventus want to take advantage of this situation, it does seem unlikely that Klopp would be selling the midfielder.

Can isn’t even the first-choice option for the club from Turin as they want to sign Mahmoud Dahoud from Borussia Monchengladbach.

Should Juventus fail to sign Dahoud, they would be looking at Can but the German isn’t wanting to leave Anfield anytime soon and had even spoken about the option of extending his current contract and staying at Merseyside.

“Yes, the club have spoken to my agent,” Can told the Liverpool Echo in November.

“The talks are going very good.

“I have one-and-a-half years left. I am still under contract and it is my agent’s work (to sort it out).

“I am very happy here at Liverpool.”

The German certainly has been one of the stalwarts of this Liverpool side and unless Juventus throw in crazy money, Can would be staying at Anfield for a while.

Jurgen Klopp certainly believes in the German international and if only the youngster can get a little more consistent, he would have been playing a lot more games for the Reds. Can is great when it comes to running about on the pitch but his final decision making is something that Klopp has to work with.

In recent games, the former Leverkusen star has also been caught out with possession and has often failed to find simple passes or has been a little too flashy.

If Can does get back to his original style of play and keep things a little simple, it could be great for him this season. The Reds face Manchester United on Sunday and Can should be getting a chance to showcase his ability and maybe this is the game that reinvigorates his season.
