Serie A Scouts Were Present At Anfield To Watch Liverpool Midfielder During Swansea Game – Report

Emre Can hasn’t had the best of times in recent games and was widely picked on after the 2-3 loss at home to Swansea. While things aren’t going right for the German on the pitch, he still has admirers and it is being reported that Juventus sent scouts to watch the midfielder in action.

Metro, via Corriere dello Sport, reports that the Serie A champions have earmarked the 23-year-old as one of their transfers next season and had watched him in action against Manchester United and Swansea.

The German international has played in 16 Premier League games this season for the Reds and has scored thrice and bagged an assist as well. While that isn’t a bad return for someone who plays a little deep, his performances have been incredibly inconsistent and he does look a bit jaded too.

We must also remember that the German has had to play a number of games in January and has barely had any rest. Probably a bit of a break from the side would energise the midfielder and get him playing at his best.

While Juventus look set to claim another league title, this link does seem a bit off at first. The Old Lady have one of the best midfields in Italy and have the likes of Sami Khedira, Mario Lemina and Miralem Pjanic in their side.

Can could be seen as the replacement for Khedira, should the former Real Madrid star leave the side but the deal does seem a little improbable at the moment. Can still is one of the better players in the Liverpool side and maybe a bit of rotation would be the kick he needs to get going.

The German is one of the most energetic players around as well but his decision making does lead to many problems. He has been caught out of position and has lost possession numerous times in the last few games and does need a talking to.

At the moment, Liverpool do not have too many options in the midfield as Can and Wijnaldum have been fighting for that extra slot in midfield alongside Adam Lallana and Jordan Henderson. The issue for Can could be the rising stars such as Kevin Stewart, who could be taking over from him.

There is no player who can claim a guaranteed starting place in Klopp’s XI and should Can stop playing to his potential, he could be on his way out of the club next season.
