Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic hasn’t been able to impress many at Anfield and his chances of proving his worth in the Premier League seemed to be dying out. However, the former Benfica ace has gotten another lifeline, this time by signing for Hull City.

The Serbian was previously on loan at Sporting Lisbon but he didn’t fare all that well with the Portuguese giants. Markovic played only six league games for the club and it was no surprise that his deal was terminated in the winter window.

But rather than move to Liverpool and wade it out in hopes of making the starting XI, the Serbian has taken a bit of a risk by deciding to join City, who are trying to avoid relegation. They seem to be doing quite well under new manager Marco Silva and are just a couple of points away from safety.

Marco Silva was also the primary reason why Markovic seems to have joined Hull and the winger was speaking to the official website of the promoted team and shared his belief in the Tigers project and in Silva.

“Marco convinced me that this was a good move for me and I am very happy to be here. He is a very successful coach from abroad and has started well at this club too.

“I look forward to working with him and the rest of the staff. Everyone is very confident that we can keep this club in the Premier League and I am looking forward to playing my part this season.

“We have a good coach and a good squad so we have to be confident of our chances of remaining in the division.”

Markovic will hope to prove a point to Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool staff as he turns up in the colours of the Tigers. The Serbian was an expensive Brendan Rodgers singing and a lot was expected from the former Benfica star but he never really settled in England.

After a tough first year, Markovic was sent out on loan to Fenerbahce in Turkey, where injuries plagued his entire season. It wasn’t a surprise seeing him move away on another loan at the start of this season too but once again he failed to make a real impression in Portugal.

This probably is his last chance to show Liverpool what he can do playing in the right position and hopefully scoring a few goals too. Should he do well at Hull, there could be a future for him at Merseyside but for now, it seems he is all but set to be sold at the start of next season.
