Jurgen Klopp had urged his players to make the game count with a win but the game didn’t start all too well as Chelsea scored off a free kick but Simon Mignolet didn’t actually hear the whistle as David Luiz scored.
The Reds were struggling to break the Chelsea defence down but a header in the second half from Georginio Wijnaldum gave them the equaliser. The Blues could have won the game in the 77th
minute when Diego Costa won a penalty but Mignolet did well to save the kick. The month of January comes to an end for the Reds and they only won one game, which was in the FA Cup, but they did give Sadio Mane a few minutes on the pitch and he could make a huge difference from the next game onwards.
