Liverpool Leading The Race To Sign This German Superstar According To The Betting Company

Liverpool fans might not be best pleased with their performance in the recently closed transfer window but they could be leading the race for the signature of one of the hottest strikers in the world.

Marco Reus, who played under Jürgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, has been on the wish list of many Liverpool fans, especially since the German manager joined the club and now it seems he will be reunited with the attacker according to BetStars director of trading Ian Marmion.

The Reds have to make it to the Champions League next season if they harbour any hopes of signing the 27-year-old and the Merseyside club are 15/8 favourites to bring the German to Anfield. It isn’t just Liverpool who are in the running for the signature of the striker with Chelsea also running 2/1 to sign Reus up.

As quoted by the Daily Star, Marmion said:

“Liverpool are our favourites, at 15/8, to sign Marco Reus this summer.

“Reus has remained friendly with former Borussia boss Jurgen Klopp and a reunion would suit both parties, assuming The Reds can do enough to secure a Champions League spot.

“Chelsea, though, are also strongly linked at 2/1 and their dominance in the Premier League season may be enough to tempt Reus to London rather than Merseyside.”

Reus’s ability to not only play across the front line but also his eye for goal have also caught the eye of Arsenal it seems and the Gunners had bid £50m for the services of the attacker according to the Bild

.

Michael Zorc, the sporting director for the Bundesliga club rubbished any claims that Reus wants to leave the side.

He told Bild: “I won’t waste my time with half-baked stuff. It’s not known to me that Marco wants to leave us.”

Reus has had a number of niggling injuries after the 2014 World Cup and he has not been as dynamic as earlier in his career. There is no doubting his ability though and if he can stay fit, he is a world-class forward that any team in the world could have.

The German has scored just two goals in the Bundesliga this season and has featured for the side six times. Reus can press high up the pitch and with his pace and movement; he would be a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s playing style at Liverpool.

The former Monchengladbach star might not cost as much as he did a few years ago but he could still be a great signing for Liverpool if they can close the deal in the summer.
