Liverpool have been given massive transfer boost in pursuit of Serie A striker as the player’s contract negotiations have stalled with his current club.
According to reports, Lorenzo Insigne’s contract negotiations with Napoli have hit a deadlock and the club are willing to listen to offers for the Italian superstar. Insigne is being valued at around £40 million and this shouldn’t be a problem for Jurgen Klopp as the club are trying to rebuild themselves.
Daniel Sturridge has not managed to put his injury concerns behind and he hasn’t established his authority in the Liverpool set up and he could be sacrificed by Klopp.
The report (Calciomercato) claims Insigne’s agent will meet with Napoli representatives at the end of the month to continue talks with the player reportedly wanting a big pay rise.
Insigne looks like a good option for Klopp and might suit his style of play. Insigne likes to cut in and play the ball to his teammates or lay it off for them. He is a wonderful team player and that is exactly what Klopp usually wants his players to be.
Despite not having a recognised striker in their ranks, Liverpool are joint top with Arsenal in the most number of goals scored in the league this season. This shows why Liverpool rely on teamwork rather than individual brilliance.
They have lacked a quality option other than Sadio Mane and this haunted them when Mane left Liverpool to play in the African Cup Of Nations in January.
Lorenzo Insigne has scored 9 goals and provided 9 assists this campaign so far and has been a reliable presence in the Napoli team ever since he made the cut in 2012/13. He has since made 198 appearances for the Italian club and has scored 38 goals.
