Liverpool Ready To Make €25 Million Offer To Save Real Madrid Bench-warmer

Real Madrid are on the verge of receiving a summer offer from Liverpool for the transfer of Brazilian defender Danilo. The right back has been at Real Madrid since 2015 after moving from FC Porto for a whopping €31.5 million.

However, he has largely played second fiddle to Dani Carvajal, who has been the first choice for Zinedine Zidane and his predecessors. The lack of first-team opportunities for the 25-year-old has made him quite unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu. Liverpool are reportedly ready to offer him a way out.

Liverpool already have one of the best offensive right backs in the form of Nathaniel Clyne. Beyond the former Southampton man, however, Liverpool do not have a great depth in that position. One of the primary reasons for manager Jurgen Klopp deciding to field youth players in the cup competitions like the FA Cup and the EFL Cup was the inability to rotate the field with top class names.

Liverpool are expected to address the issue of squad strength in the summer by splashing out on several new players. Danilo has emerged as one of the primary transfer targets. The Brazilian appeals to Jurgen Klopp, as he will bring in the versatility of being able to play on the right side of the midfield or even at left-back.

The club have also been linked with a few left backs, as Liverpool have been playing with James Milner as the converted left back with some degree of success. However, a natural wingback will be a major step in the right direction for the club. Even though Danilo is right-footed, there is no reason why he cannot do the job at the left back positions considering that a number of right-footed players have excelled in this position over the last few years. Cesar Azpilicueta, Ashley Young, and most recently, James Milner would be perfect examples.

Danilo’s position at Real Madrid has been so poor that the Spanish club are now even considering the possibility of letting the player leave so as to free up some wages. Real Madrid will admit that they might not receive the fee that they paid for the player. However, the Spanish club believe that a player of his quality will fetch around €25 million in this highly inflated transfer market.

Madrid are certainly in a strong position when it comes to negotiating a potential deal for the player. The Brazilian has a contract with the Spanish outfit until the summer of 2021. He is also a full Brazilian international after having made 16 appearances for the national team since his debut in 2011. Playing regularly will help them establish himself at the international level.
