‘It would be special to play at Anfield’ – Liverpool Target Gives A Big Hint On His Future

Timo Werner Opens Up About Liverpool Links

Leipzig forward Timo Werner, who is already a target for Liverpool, has admitted that it would be ‘special’ to play at Anfield in the future. However, has also insisted that he feels at home with Leipzig.

It is believed Anfield chiefs have been in contact with Leipzig, attempting to see whether a deal for the 21-year-old could materialise in the summer.

Werner insists it would be a special feeling to play at Anfield, but the attacker intends to evolve as a player at his current club.

He was quoted by Sport Bild (h/t Metro):

“If you were to play at Anfield and hear the fans sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone,’ it would certainly be something special. “England has a different feel, but I am also still young player. I feel at home here at RB right now. Leipzig can continue to grow, and if I could be part of it I’d be delighted.”

Werner was linked with Liverpool a few days back, much to the excitement of the Anfield faithful. However, he played down the possibility of a switch from the German club and insisted that he wanted to stay for few more seasons and grow.

However, with the youngster now speaking up about at Anfield, it is possible to conclude that the interest from Liverpool surely is running at the back of his mind.

Timo Werner has scored 14 goals and has laid on 6 assists in 25 appearances this season and has been mighty impressive for Germany’s surprise package of the season. Known for his versatility, Werner primarily plays as a centre-forward.

He has sizzled up front and the stats speak volumes about his ability as an attacker. Werner is an astute dribbler and is a huge threat on the counter-attack. His only weakness is that he is not an aerial threat.

It makes sense for Klopp to go for Werner as the player’s style fits Jurgen’s philosophy so well. Timo would thrive as a false-9 in the current Liverpool set-up and there is every reason for the fans to be excited about this news.

Firmino has struggled to cope with his positional change and hasn’t been able to have any significant impact by playing as a centre-forward. Timo Werner would probably do justice to the Liverpool front line.

His words are just a reflection of his desire to play for Liverpool and it can roughly be translated to “Come and get me, Jurgen Klopp!”
