Liverpool have been rumoured to be interested in Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart. The England international was deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad and joined Torino on loan at the start of the season.

There have been a number of footballers who have stated that Hart would be a better option that Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius at Liverpool and former Chelsea midfielder Ray Wilkins also shares the same notion.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Wilkins added that Karius would probably stay should the Reds sign a new number one goalkeeper.

“If I was Klopp I would certainly be going for him,” he told Sky Sports.

“He is obviously a very talented young man and I would like to see him back in England playing in the Premier League.

“[Loris] Karius would probably stay if they were to bring in a top-quality goalkeeper but Mignolet probably sees himself as a number one so he would have to disappear.”

Hart would love to return to the Premier League but doesn’t see a future at the Etihad under Pep Guardiola. The Spanish manager signed Claudio Bravo to replace Hart and the Englishman has accepted his fate at the club and will be looking for a new club in the summer.

Speaking to the BBC, the 29-year-old said he would love to return to the Premier League and wanted to play for a club where he is wanted. He said:

“I love the Premier League, I absolutely love Premier League games. Removing myself a footballer, I watch the Premier League. It’s a great league, fantastic football is played in it.

“I know it really well but I wouldn’t say it was top of my wish list. Top of my wish list is to play for a club that wants me to be their goalkeeper.”

Hart would have been a better option than Mignolet at the start of the season but the Englishman does have a propensity for errors, something which he has shown in the Serie A as well.

Liverpool might have to search a bit more if they want to sign a new quality keeper but Klopp did state that he was willing to stick with Mignolet and Karius next season, which will be a worry for fans.
