Liverpool Enter 4 Way Battle To Sign £40 Million Rated La Liga Midfielder

Liverpool is just one of a host of clubs looking to sign one of Real Madrid’s best young talents in the summer. The Reds have been linked with Marco Asensio and according to Don Balon, Arsenal are also interested in the 21-year-old Spaniard.

Asensio has had a good impact this season with eight goals for Real Madrid but with the likes of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the pecking order, game time has been hard to come by.

The report also claims that Sevilla and Juventus want to sign the Madrid youngster and Daily Star has added that the La Liga giants value him at around £40 million. It is also reported that Florentino Perez is a big fan of Asensio and wants to see the youngster do well at the club but if the pair of the Premier League sides stump up that much cash, it would test Real’s resolve.

The Kop Times Verdict

Asensio certainly has been a bright spot for the club but it does seem that Liverpool wouldn’t be moving for a player that hasn’t played outside Spain. The youngster also seems to be a favourite at the club and losing him out to either Premier League side would certainly put both the club and even manager Zinedine Zidane in the firing line.

Liverpool also could get much better players for the valuation that the Daily Star has shared of Asensio. The 21-year-old does have a bright future ahead of him but it doesn’t seem Liverpool would be the right place for him.

The Reds have been linked with a number of players from the Bundesliga and one such starlet recently signed with Borussia Dortmund, the German midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.

This would come as a big blow for the Merseyside club and they will have to rejig their transfer targets in the summer. If the Reds do not move early they will also lose out on their other targets such as Christian Pulisic and Julian Brandt.

Asensio could still be a player that Klopp brings on loan at the club but as a permanent signing, it is a big risk to take, something that Liverpool cannot afford.
