Liverpool fans celebrated another Merseyside derby win but one player stood out more than anyone else and that was Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian had struggled since returning from his injury in November and only had scored against Leicester in the last couple of months.
Coutinho, however, was brilliant throughout the game and even though he took part in Brazil’s World Cup qualifying campaign, he was up for the battle against Everton.
There were a couple of moments where he sent the Everton defence out for a stroll as he tried to curl the ball into the top left hand corner but couldn’t get the ball into the next.
He did get his goal, the second for Liverpool with a brilliant run into the box and also took a couple of defenders out before curling the ball past Joel Robles. The tricks and flicks were also there for the Brazilian and it seemed he was back to his best in the game.
Coutinho also had an incredible pass success rate of 86% in the game and he even sent Divock Origi through for the third goal of the game. This certainly was the Coutinho that Liverpool fans want and if he continues playing in this form, the Reds will make it to the top four come the end of the season.
Fans also took to Twitter to praise the return of the talisman, something they expect to do for the remaining games of the season.
Coutinho was so slick today for 74 minutes… He’s already been awarded April’s player of the month! #LFC

Coutinho playing so well today is very important. Looks to be back to his best. Origi’s cameo also very positive.

If Coutinho and Origi hit even just a slight bit of decent form, we’re in big business here for the rest of the season
