Liverpool have been heavily linked with Nottingham Forest’s Ben Brereton in the past but the transfer story looks to be taking a different turn, with Forest reportedly ready to offer a new contract to the youngster to ward off interest from the Reds.
It has been reported that Nottingham Forest are determined to keep hold of the promising 17-year old amidst interest from a lot of big clubs. The charismatic Liverpool chief wants to bolster his attacking options and thinks that a move for the starlet this summer could fit the bill.
Brereton has impressed for Forest since being thrust into the first team. He’s bagged 3 goals in just 11 appearances.
The young starlet is being valued at around £10m by Forest. Although, many feel that the price is way too high considering the fact that Brereton is only 17 and hasn’t really proved himself yet.
It is clear that the striker is a promising talent, but paying such a huge sum would be ridiculous from Liverpool. Hence, the negotiations may take a while as Forest are extremely determined to hold on to their precious talent.
The 17-year old was called up to the England U-19 squad recently and it was his first call-up to the U-19 national side. The young lad is known for his strength, aerial ability, and dribbling skills. These are exactly the abilities, what are considered to be essential for a modern striker.
Jurgen Klopp is well-known for his ability to work with young talents and it is not surprising to see him get linked with a growing talent like Ben Brereton. It would be another added advantage for Liverpool as the boy is English. He would add to their list of home-grown players and it is a handy prospect. Without a doubt, Brereton would be a great addition to the Liverpool academy.
